Definition

The Sunnah (سُنَّة) is the way, method, or pattern (طريقة، منهج، نمط) prescribed by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ — comprising his sayings (أقوال), actions (أفعال), and tacit approvals (تقريرات). It is the second source of Islamic law after the Quran and serves as the practical exegesis of the Quranic revelation. As Qaradawi states, "the Sunnah is the Quran interpreted and Islam embodied" — the living, applied form of the divine message.
